By Liz Masoner, About.com

Following are the rules for the Photography Assignment Contests. These rules are designed to give as many people as possible a chance to participate in the assignments.

Entry Location

Assignment entries must be posted in the assignment entry thread in the forum. The entry thread will be marked as "Assignment # - Theme" and linked from the blog announcement.

Instructions for Posting Images to the Forum

Number of Entries

Each person is allowed 5 entries per assignment. However, no more than 1 entry per person can win or place as a finalist per assignment.

Assignment Time Limits

Assignments run from the 1st through the 15th of each month and the 16th through the last day of the month. Assignment deadlines are 10PM Eastern time on the 15th and 10PM Eastern time on the last day of the month respectively.

Entries for the assignment contest must have been taken during the contest period. Older images may be posted as long as they are clearly marked as "not a contest entry" within the post.

By entering a photo in an assignment you certify that the image is yours and that you own the copyright of the photos. You further give permission for all photos entered to be used in accordance with the terms of service.

Image Content

All images must be work safe and comply with the terms of service. Any image that does not meet this guideline will be deleted.

Model Release

If any identifiable people are in your photograph you must email a model release to me at photography.guide@about.com before the end of the assignment. If you do not have a scanner you can email me the text of the release. However, by emailing the text you certify that you have a signature on file and are able to provide that signature by fax or mail upon request.

Terms of Service

By entering a photo in an assignment you certify that you have read and will abide by the terms of service.
