Assignment Depth of Field used what we had already learned in Rule of Thirds, Centering, and Orientation assignments and paired it with control of the focus depth of our images to further refine our images. As the lesson on Lesson on Depth of Field showed, how much of your image is in focus is vitally important to most images. Depth of field is one way we control the vision of those viewing our photographs. By manipulating depth of field we force the viewer's vision to match ours.
Our winner and finalists for this assignment did an excellent job of showing how important both shallow and large depth of field is to different images.
Our "flagship" image for this assignment is a wonderful piece of visual humor that graphically shows a shallow depth of field while paying homage to the F-Stop measurement that helps us control depth of field.
When you are done reviewing the winner and finalist images, be sure to visit the entry thread in the forums to view the other great images submitted for the assignment.
